📖 Verse of the Day

Psalm 16:11 verse card: You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.

“You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.”

Reflection:

Some days are so good we wish they could last forever: a long lunch with an old friend, a table full of laughter on a holiday, a golden afternoon when everything feels right. But even the best days end. Before we know it, the sun is down, the dishes are done, and it’s over.

David delighted in the good things God gave him. “The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places,” he wrote. Yet his greatest joy was God Himself: “You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.”

Eternal pleasures. Not for an afternoon, but forever.

When Peter preached at Pentecost, he said this psalm was speaking of Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. Jesus has walked the path of life out of the grave, and He opens it to everyone who belongs to Him.

So enjoy each day’s gifts, and when a happy day ends, you can let it go with a thankful heart. Every one of its joys came from Him. And in His presence, the joy won’t end when the day does.

Ask Yourself:

  • Which good day would I love to have back, and what would I like to tell God about it?

  • What small joy could I share with someone today?

🙏 Prayer of the Day

Father in Heaven,

I smile when I remember the happiest days of my life, and sometimes my heart aches a little that they had to end. Thank You for every one of them, and for the people who made them so dear. And today, even in the ordinary moments, please let me feel the joy of being near You. Because Jesus lives, I know a day is coming when I’ll be home with You forever, and there will be no more goodbyes.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
