π Verse of the Day

βYour word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.β
Reflection
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." The light in this verse sits low, down where the walking happens. In the Hebrew it sits lower still: translators note that "feet" is literally singular. A lamp for my foot. God sized this promise to the one step being taken right now.
Most of us would have asked for more β the outcome of the decision, the shape of next year, what waits past the bend. When God shows only the next step, we can wonder if we've missed His guidance. We haven't. Step-sized light is not God holding out on us; it is how He loves to lead, near enough to walk beside us.
Which means you already have light enough for today. Not everything is visible, but the next thing is: the conversation you've been circling, the bill on the counter, the obedience you already know. That step will be lit, and then the one after.
He is right there, holding the lamp. Take the step you can see, and trust Him for the one you can't.
Ask Yourself
Where am I refusing to move until God shows me the whole path?
After I open His word today, what single lit step will I take?
π Prayer of the Day
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that Your word is a lamp for my feet β light You measure out one step at a time, so I never have to walk the path alone. I confess how often I wait for the whole road to be explained before I will move.
Give me grace today to open Your word, take the one step it makes clear, and trust You with the stretch I cannot see yet. I don't need to see far to walk near to You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Amy Grant sings Psalm 119:105 itself β thy word, a lamp unto my feet β a quiet prayer for just enough light to take the next faithful step.
