📖 Verse of the Day

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Reflection:
Some of our most important prayers come out in pieces. A name. A sigh. “Lord, please.” In a hospital hallway, at the kitchen sink or while waiting for a phone call, the right words can be hard to find, and afterward we wonder whether a prayer that small could really count for much.
James would beg to differ. In today’s verse, he calls prayer powerful and effective. And for his example, he chose Elijah, the prophet who once called down fire from heaven. Yet the first thing James tells us about him is this: “Elijah was a human being, even as we are.”
Elijah’s prayers moved heaven because of who was listening. And that same God hears you, even when your whole prayer is a name and a sigh.
So pray today, however it comes out. All a prayer has to do is reach Him, and every one of yours does.
Ask Yourself:
What would I tell God today if I didn’t have to get it just right?
Who could use a short note from me today, letting them know I’m praying for them?
🙏 Prayer of the Day
Heavenly Father,
Some days my prayers are just a few words and a lot of hope. Thank You for hearing them all, and for never asking me to sound impressive.
Today I lift up the ones I can’t stop thinking about. Please meet each of them right where they are, with the comfort and strength only You can give.
I don’t always know what to ask for, but I know who I’m asking. And when my words run out, I’m so grateful that Your love never does.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
