Some doubted

When the eleven disciples saw the risen Jesus on a mountain in Galilee, they worshiped Him. But according to Matthew, what did some of them do?

A closer look

After the resurrection, the eleven went to Galilee, “to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go” (Matthew 28:16). When they saw Him, they worshiped. But Matthew is honest: “some doubted” (Matthew 28:17).

Jesus didn’t wait for every doubt to disappear. “Jesus came to them” (Matthew 28:18), gave them their mission, and ended with today’s verse: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

If you picked “Ran away,” you were close. On the night of His arrest, “all the disciples deserted Him and fled” (Matthew 26:56). He welcomed those same friends back.

So if you’re carrying a few doubts today, you’re in good company. He comes close anyway, and He stays.
