THE ANSWER IS B
In Samaria, at Jacob’s well

THE QUESTION
Tired from His journey, Jesus sat down by a well, asked a woman for a drink, and offered her “living water.” Where was the well?
A) Galilee
B) Samaria ✓
C) Judea
D) Decapolis
A closer look
Jesus was traveling from Judea back to Galilee, and the road took Him through Samaria (John 4:3-4). Jews and Samaritans usually kept their distance (John 4:9), but Jesus sat down at Jacob’s well and asked a Samaritan woman for a drink. Before He left, many people in her town believed in Him because of her testimony (John 4:39).
If you picked Galilee, you were close. That’s where Jesus was headed (John 4:3).
Today’s verse pictures a tree with its roots by the stream. A few verses later, Jeremiah calls the Lord “the spring of living water” (Jeremiah 17:13). At the well, Jesus offered that living water to a thirsty heart (John 4:10-14).
