A closer look

Saul was on his way to Damascus to arrest followers of Jesus when “a light from heaven flashed around him.” When he got up from the ground, he could see nothing, so the men with him led him by the hand into the city. For three days he was blind, and he did not eat or drink (Acts 9:3-9).

Then the Lord sent a disciple named Ananias, who had heard “many reports about this man and all the harm he has done.” He went anyway, placed his hands on him and greeted him as “Brother Saul.” Then the scales fell, and Saul could see (Acts 9:10-18).

If you chose Speak, you were close: it was the men traveling with Saul who “stood there speechless” (Acts 9:7).

The man who spent three days in the dark later wrote today’s verse: “The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
